Tachyonic Squarks in Split Supersymmetry
نویسنده
چکیده
The decoupling of scalar particles in split supersymmetry makes the spectrum of squarks irrelevant for low energy processes. Nevertheless, the structure of the vacuum is sensitive to the spectrum of squarks, even when the supersymmetry breaking scale is large. In this note, we show that in certain regions of the parameter space, squarks could develop radiatively tachyonic masses, thus breaking electric charge and color. We discuss the constraints that follow from the requirement of charge and color conservation, and we comment on the implications for model building. IFT-UAM/CSIC-05-18 E-mail: [email protected]

Split Supersymmetry in String Theory
Type I string theory in the presence of internal magnetic fields provides a concrete realization of split supersymmetry. To lowest order, gauginos are massless while squarks and sleptons are superheavy. For weak magnetic fields, the correct Standard Model spectrum guarantees gauge coupling unification with sin2 θW = 3/8 at the compactification scale of MGUT ≃ 2× 1016 GeV. I discuss mechanisms f...
متن کاملGravitino production from reheating in split supersymmetry
1550-7998=20 We discuss gravitino production from reheating in models where the splitting between particle and sparticle masses can be larger than TeV, as naturally arising in the context of split supersymmetry. We show that such a production typically dominates over thermal contributions arising from the interactions of gauginos, squarks and sleptons. We constrain the supersymmetry breaking sc...
متن کاملBaryogenesis with Superheavy Squarks
We consider a setup where R-parity is violated in the framework of split supersymmetry. The out-of-equilibrium decays of heavy squarks successfully lead to the generation of a baryon asymmetry. We restrict the R-parity violating couplings to the baryon number violating subset to keep the neutralino sufficiently stable to provide the dark matter. The observed baryon asymmetry can be generated fo...
متن کاملSplitting Supersymmetry in String Theory
We point out that type I string theory in the presence of internal magnetic fields provides a concrete realization of split supersymmetry. To lowest order, gauginos are massless while squarks and sleptons are superheavy. We build such realistic U(3) × U(2) × U(1) models on stacks of magnetized D9-branes. Though not unified into a simple group, these theories preserve the successful supersymmetr...
متن کاملSplit extended supersymmetry
We show how splitting supersymmetry reconciles a class of intersecting brane models with unification. The gauge sector in these models arises in multiplets of extended supersymmetry while matter states are in N = 1 representations. A deformation of the angles between the branes gives large masses to squarks and sleptons, as well as supersymmetry breaking contributions to other string states. Th...
